When we set our fundraising target for Help for Heroes, we knew it would take the full force of the Ground Control team to get there. We got there and then some.

We're proud to announce that we've already raised £60,168 for Help for Heroes, smashing our original £55,000 target, and we're only three-quarters of the way through our year. With more activity still to come, the total keeps climbing.

Help for Heroes supports wounded, injured, and sick veterans and their families across the UK, and everything we've done this year has been in service of that mission.

What we got up to

This year, our people threw themselves into fundraising right across the business and then some.

  • Race Across London: Inspired by Race Across the World, five teams navigated the capital with limited budgets, solving clues at secret checkpoints while supporting Help for Heroes.
  • Charity Football at Billericay Town FC: Ground Control hosted a charity match to foster teamwork and raise funds.
  • Scafell Pike: A team climbed England's highest peak, setting a high standard for team challenges.
  • Snowdon: Another group tackled Wales' highest mountain, demonstrating determination throughout the climb.
  • Fundraising Events: Bake sales, raffles, and quiz nights engaged colleagues and boosted fundraising totals.
Supplier Support: Our partners joined the cause, helping us exceed our fundraising goals.

But it's been about more than fundraising. Throughout the year, Ground Control colleagues have been out actively volunteering alongside Help for Heroes, and we've also been sharing our professional training and expertise with the charity. It's a partnership built on genuine commitment, not just a cheque.

What our leaders say

"Hitting £60,168 for Help for Heroes and still going is something we should all be incredibly proud of. The way our teams have got behind this, through races, climbs, football matches, and everything in between, says everything about the kind of company Ground Control is. These are real people we're helping, and that matters." Jason Knights, CEO, Ground Control

"What's struck me most this year is how people have gone above and beyond not because it was asked of them, but because it felt right. That's the culture we've built at Ground Control, and seeing it show up in something as meaningful as this is exactly what Human Nature at its Best looks like in practice." Lisa Blakey, Chief People Officer, Ground Control

We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Ground Control who has contributed to this fantastic achievement. Raising more than £60,000 is an outstanding result and reflects the commitment, energy and generosity shown by colleagues and partners across the business.
This support will help veterans and their families access our services such as Hidden Wounds and the Recovery College, helping people improve their wellbeing, build confidence and move forward with their lives.
As demand for our support continues to grow, partnerships like this are more important than ever. We've loved working with Ground Control and are proud of the impact we've achieved together so far.” James Needham, Help for Heroes CEO.

Why Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes exists because service doesn't stop when someone leaves the military. Since 2007, the charity has supported over 25,000 veterans and their families through recovery, rehabilitation, and rebuilding, giving people the tools to live well after service. We're honoured to have played our part in that mission, and we're not done yet.
