PAS 2080 isn't just a standard we've adopted. It reflects how we work. We believe that managing carbon across the whole life of a project, from design and materials through to construction, operation, and decommissioning, is the responsible thing to do. And when you do it properly, it works for everyone: better outcomes for our clients, cost efficiency through smarter choices, and a genuine positive impact for the environment.

"PAS 2080 supports what we already believe – that carbon management needs to be looked at as a whole, not in silos. When everyone in the supply chain works together with that mindset, we make better decisions, improve design, use better materials, reduce costs, and ultimately cut emissions. This is the direction we need to be heading, and PAS 2080 will support us on that journey." Chris Hinchcliffe, HSQE Director, Ground Control

What Is PAS 2080?

PAS 2080 is a globally recognised specification for managing whole-life carbon in the built environment. It sets out a consistent framework for quantifying, reducing, and reporting on carbon emissions throughout a project's entire lifecycle, from material extraction and design through construction, operation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning.

The standard works because it demands collaboration. It brings together asset owners, designers, constructors, and material suppliers around a single goal: reducing carbon at every stage. This creates intelligent design decisions that lower emissions and deliver cost savings. It's efficiency in action.

For infrastructure and construction, sectors that contribute significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, standards like PAS 2080 are no longer optional. They're essential.

What Our Certification Means

Whole-Life Carbon Assessment: We measure and manage carbon throughout a project's lifecycle, no shortcuts. From design to materials and supply chain management, we focus on assessing and reducing emissions at every stage.

Supply Chain Accountability: Our certification involves collaboration with designers, suppliers, and contractors to integrate carbon reduction into every decision, creating real impact through alignment.

Innovation Through Constraint: Intelligent carbon management leads to better designs, material choices, and optimised supply chains, resulting in cost savings and environmental benefits; this is our commitment to innovation.

Tender, Ready and Future-Proof: With growing public-sector demand for PAS 2080 alignment, our certification ensures we meet current and future accreditation requirements and demonstrates our serious approach to carbon management.

What This Means for You

Engaging with Ground Control means you have a dedicated partner for comprehensive whole-life carbon management. We can support those with commitments to reduce carbon/ work towards meeting carbon reduction targets at the project level through thorough whole-life carbon management.

This certification represents a significant operational milestone for us and reinforces our commitment to helping clients and partners create resilient, lower-carbon infrastructure. At Ground Control, our goal is to leave environments better than we found them, starting with our proactive approach to carbon management today. We are here to assist those who aim to reduce carbon emissions and achieve their carbon reduction goals effectively.
